Connect App Store Connect (API key)
Connecting App Store Connect brings Apple’s own numbers into StoRank: daily downloads, re-downloads, purchases and revenue by country and device, plus review replies from the dashboard. Rank tracking works without it.
1. What you need
- An App Store Connect account that can create API keys (Apple allows this for the Account Holder and Admins).
- About 5 minutes.
2. Create the key
- In App Store Connect, open Users and Access → Integrations → App Store Connect API → Team Keys and press +.
- Name:
StoRank. Access: Sales. If you want more, see the role list below. - Press Generate. On the key’s row, use Download API Key to download the
AuthKey_….p8file and keep it. Apple lets you download it only once. - Copy the Issuer ID (at the top of the page) and the Key ID (on the key’s row).
- Open Payments and Financial Reports and copy the Vendor Number at the top left (8-9 digits).
3. Add it to StoRank
- In StoRank, open Settings → App Store Connect Connection.
- Paste the Issuer ID, Key ID and Vendor Number, choose the .p8 file and press Connect and Save.
- StoRank checks the key with Apple right away and lists the apps it can see. Daily reports for up to the last year are fetched in the background and then refreshed every few hours. Apple publishes each day’s report the next day.
4. What each role unlocks
- Sales (or Finance, or Admin): needed to connect. Daily downloads, re-downloads, in-app purchases and revenue, by country and device.
- Customer Support or App Manager: sending review replies from StoRank. Without it, you write the reply (or the AI draft) in StoRank, copy it and paste it into App Store Connect.
- Admin: may be needed the first time you turn on Apple’s analytics reports (the Store Conversion card: impressions, product page views, downloads; crash counts). You press Enable reports on the card yourself; Apple usually prepares the first files within 24-48 hours.
A key with the Admin role covers all of the above in one connection. If you don’t need the rest, we recommend Sales: least privilege, least risk. More: How we protect your data.
5. Common errors
- “Couldn’t read the .p8 key”: choose the
AuthKey_….p8file you downloaded from App Store Connect. - “Apple didn’t accept the credentials”: the Issuer ID, Key ID and .p8 file must all belong to the same key.
- “Invalid Vendor Number”: it is the number at the top left of Payments and Financial Reports.
- “Your key can’t read sales reports”: create the key with the Sales (or Admin or Finance) role.
6. Disconnecting
Delete the connection in Settings → Connections: the encrypted key and the downloaded report data are deleted. To cut access on Apple’s side as well, press Revoke on the key in App Store Connect.
